Keeping up with the kids this summer – things to do near Chichester
If you are looking for fun things to do near Chichester to keep your kids entertained this summer then you have come to the right place!
Here at The Partridge we are not only situated right in the middle of the stunning West Sussex countryside with lovely walks right on our doorstep, but we are also lucky enough to be sandwiched between beautiful Midhurst and historic Chichester, with lots of great activities close to our country pub.
Read on to discover some of our favourite spots which are all located within 10 minutes from our country pub. Once you’ve had your fill, simply pop down the road and join us for a lovely seasonal lunch or delicious dinner. In addition to our new menu and Children’s Menu, our large pub garden features an accessible paved terrace and has plenty of grassy space to tire out little legs, we also have an enclosed children’s play area, perfect for entertaining your kids whilst you relax with a drink.
If you and your children love animals and adventure, then Weald and Downland Living Museum is a great place to nurture the imagination. The museum covers over 40 acres of land and features buildings dated from 950AD to the 19th century. With farm animals, a mill pond and a wide variety of events, Weald and Downland makes a lovely afternoon out for all the family, and is located under a mile from our pub.
One village along from our pretty village of Singleton is West Dean and home to the famous West Dean College and Gardens. With views across the rolling Sussex hills, this really is England’s green and pleasant land at its best. Take a walk around the stunning Victorian glasshouses and walled kitchen garden or why not tie your visit in with the annual Arts and Crafts Festival or Chilli Fiesta?
A mere stone’s throw from our pub lies the internationally renowned Goodwood Estate.
Although often seen as a more adult friendly destination, much of Goodwood’s programme also caters to children. Events such as Goodwood Revival admit kids under 12 for free and feature fantastic child friendly elements such as an old-school funfair. Goodwood also host Family Race Days where children can experience the thrill of seeing the horses racing past whilst also enjoying a wealth of other activities.
Also situated on Goodwood Estate is the Cass Sculpture Foundation. This outdoor gallery is set in a beautiful woodland glade and features a constantly evolving display of sculptures from a wide range of artists. This relaxed park is the perfect place for kids to explore and interact with art without the confines and rules of a typical gallery.
Exhausted after all the activity? Make sure you pop by our pub to refresh and rewind after exploring all Chichester has to offer.
